Silver, like other precious metals, can oxidize with time. But properly maintained silver jewellery improves with age and develops a lush shine. Treat your silver well for a long life and a lustrous look.
Clean your silver jewellery with a mild soap and water solution, allowing the water to bead up, and then patting dry with a soft cloth. For more stubborn dirt, use jewellery cleaner designed for silver use. Store your silver in a cool, dry place, preferably in a tarnish-preventive bag or wrapped in a soft piece of felt or cloth. Do not rub silver with anything other than a polishing cloth or a fine piece of felt. Tissue paper or paper towels can cause scratches because of the fibres in these products.
- Don’t expose Silver to air and light when storing because it will cause silver to tarnish. And, don’t wear sterling silver in chlorine water.
- For basic touch-up polishing, use a polishing cloth or piece of felt. Other materials will scratch the silver.
- Store your jewellery in a cool, dry place individually wrapped in a soft pouch or cloth.
- If you are not sure on how to care for a specific piece of jewellery, contact a professional Jeweller. And remember to have all your jewellery checked on a regular basis for chips, broken catches, loose mountings
