Idiyappam— String Hopper

Idiyappam (Conventional Method)

Boiled Rice – 3cups

Raw Rice   – 100gms

Salt   – 2 ½ tsp

Water

Method:

  1.  Soak the both the rice in hot water for 1 ½ to 2 hrs. Grind the rice into batter.
  2. Add Salt and water to make the batter to dosa batter consistency.
  3. In an Idly pan, bake the batter to idlies.
  4. While the idly is hot itself, place it in the extruder and hot idiyappams are ready to serve.
  5. Serve hot with Mutton Paya or Kurma or coconut milk with sugar.

Idiyappam (Using Instant Idiyappam Powder)

Rice Powder-3cups

Salt to taste

Water

Method:

  1. Heat water in a pan, when water starts to boil.
  2. Then add Salt and rice powder mix to make it to thicker dough consistency.
  3. Place the rice dough into the extruder
  4. In an Idly pan, Bake the extruded idiyappams.
  5. Hot idiyappams are ready to serve.
  6. Serve hot with Mutton Paya or Kurma or coconut milk with sugar.
